A Rejuvenating Type of Loneliness

Loneliness is a common affliction which comes to all, now and again. A person can be drenched in loneliness while in the middle of a room full of good friends and family. A person can be lonely in ways that wrench the heart painfully, or feel a loneliness that is possessed of a sublime melancholy beauty. Not always is loneliness a bad thing, as feeling the pangs of loneliness can help one to learn and feel a great many things. It’s important to accept being lonely once in a while, as avoiding loneliness is much more harmful than indulging in it occasionally.

Loneliness can hit on a rainy afternoon when the feeling of being solitary inside one’s own mind is so intense that it seems impossible that anyone else could ever feel quite that way. It can be a feeling that each person is alone in his or her own mind, and whatever thoughts and feelings we manage to share are the result of bumbling around in the dark. This kind of loneliness is completely normal, and may pass within an hour or day. Allowing oneself to fall so deeply into one’s own self and one’s own thoughts can be a lovely way to spend an afternoon that makes all the days of activity more full and appreciated. There are many different types of loneliness. While a long-term loneliness may require some remedy, an occasional bout of intense loneliness can be wonderful for the mind and spirit.
